julie + mike . married .

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Julie and Mike are one of those couples that stick together. They stick together through moves, and the military. Then they get married and everyone knows that from that moment on, they will continue to stick together. It is obvious that they have an unending amount of love, respect, and appreciation for each other. Being able to capture it for them was wonderful. It was wonderful to see both of their families come together and make their day so perfect. Julie and Mike, thank you so much for letting us capture your beautiful day!

hotel : renaissance hotel

ceremony : duquesne university chapel

reception : pittsburgh athletic association

florist : pittsburgh cut flower company

DJ : DJ Spike

We started the day at the Renaissance Hotel downtown.  Mike’s brother dropped off a surprise gift for Julie from Mike. Her “something blue”.

Sparkly shoes! I die. So cute! After Julie and the girls finished getting ready, we headed to the DUQ Chapel for their ceremony.  Julie and Mike decided to stick with tradition and wait until the last second to see each other.  A decision that fit their day perfectly. Jimmy was with the guys at Duquesne as they got ready for the ceremony. Before heading back Downtown, we snapped some quick shots around campus.  There was an 80% chance of rain that day.  There ended up being a light drizzle and then blue skies.  LUCK.I LOVE THESE.  Something about them makes my heart warm and fuzzy! We will call these…run out in front of traffic and snap a few photos.  Luckily the people of Pittsburgh love a wedding and they were more than happy to stop so we could take the photos.  After seeing that Mike and Julie didn’t die, the bridal party was happy to join in the fun on the next red light :D Now it isn’t every couple who will trust us enough to let us take them in the alley’s Downtown for wedding photos, especially when this is our first time working together.  I am so glad they did.  I love these. Then we were off to the Pittsburgh Athletic Association in Oakland for their reception.  For anyone looking for a traditional, elegant, beautiful ballroom setting, PAA is perfect. Loving their green details. So pretty for spring.

Wedding days are long, sometimes a bride needs a little 5 hour energy to keep the party going ;D

Loved Julie’s dance with her dad. So special. You can tell she is a daddy’s girl!

Mike and Julie, thank you so much!  We hope you are having a wonderful honeymoon! xo

I have known Sarah since she was little.  She was always one of those kids with a personality so big that you can tell she was this full of life from the beginning .  I photographed her at her church in the North Hills, a place that holds a spot in her heart.  Those are the best places to have your photos taken.  Thank you Sarah! Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you! Good luck finishing up the school year, and in your first year of college!

For those of you who are wondering, I am take very limited senior portrait sessions this year.

When I woke up this morning I started thinking about where we are, who we are, and where we are going. I went to pilates class, came home, ate my rice krispies (or some generic brand because that is how we roll), I hoped in the shower, and then sat down at my computer and decided I needed to blog about this. Not just to broadcast it to the world, but to remind myself when things seem tough…we are lucky. Lucky to have each other, lucky to do what we do, we are lucky to have people who support us, lucky to be just where we are at any given time.  I can’t wait to see what the next few months bring.

And since posts just aren’t as great without a photo, here is a little preview of things to come…
