mckenzie + tim . married.

Last May I got an email from a bride looking for a photographer. She wrote “We are pretty laid back and we really want our wedding to not only be about us, but a celebration of the people we love. We like to laugh, hang out, and hopefully our wedding will show that”. When I talked to her on the phone (she was planning from out of town), I knew that she was a perfect fit for me. When she booked me I was REALLY pumped. When I met McKenzie and Tim and their pup Geno for their engagement session I basically fell in love with them. Since then, McKenzie and I kept in touch, and she referred several couples (including Julie & Mike) and has been a big cheerleader for me (I can’t thank you enough!). On their wedding day, it didn’t feel like work, it felt like hanging with friends and it was wonderful.

McKenzie and Tim, you guys are wonderful.  Your wedding was everything you described a year ago, and so much more. Thank you for your hospitality, open hearts, and for choosing us to capture your gorgeous day!  xo

McKenzie and Tim chose to see each other before their ceremony, which opened up their timeline, and helped to keep their day relaxed and fun. This shot is Jim’s…

Jimmy’s angle…

The moment when McKenzie walked down the aisle was still just as magical after a first look, if not more…

We headed to Lawrenceville for some more photos…

The “inbetweeners” (yup, I made that word up), are the best…

Ok, prepare to have your world rocked by the most fun, colorful, fabulous decor ever. They totally utilized and enhanced the existing decor at the PPG Aquarium. Loved it!

A girl after my own heart…

McKenzie’s Dad knows how to make a toast.  He made everyone cry, laugh, and then got the party started RIGHT…

This would be where he told everyone that they would TAKE NO PRISONERS TONIGHT. WINNING.

And then PARTY time.

We interrupt our normal scheduled broadcast to bring you Tim’s Party Face…

Thank you guys. You are awesome <3

I love hearing the stories of how couples met. I got to hear Natalie and John’s story over ice cream on Mt. Washington. Natalie and John are fun. They are sweet. They don’t take everything TOO seriously (neither do Jimmy and I, so obviously we got along fabulously).  They are the kind of couple that I can walk around with, talk to, photograph, laugh with, and totally forget that this is my job, because it is just so much fun.  Thank you Natalie and John for being so much fun, we can’t wait for your wedding next year!
We started in Natalie’s neighborhood and then walked around Mt. Washington, and ya…Natalie is gorgeous…

This one is Jimmy’s…

Difiore’s Ice Cream on Shiloh Street has a special place in my heart. I used to go there with my Grandma a LOT. :)

Their first date was at Redbeard’s…

the runge family . real life .

Every family I photograph is different. Different ages. Different dynamics. Different people. Each family teaches me something different about my job, and life in general. This family happens to have moved from Switzerland to Pittsburgh in March. They taught me that love is the same in every language. This type of “lifestyle” session is what makes me tick. The kind of session that is less portrait, and more documentary. This kind of family reminds me of my childhood. Less plastic, more imagination. They have a bounce room for the kids, filled with mattresses and pillows. I literally dreamed of a room like that for years. They were real, and honest in front of the camera and I think it was a little bit magical. I loved it so much that this post is really photo heavy…see for yourself…
