For the past few weeks we have been wedding free, and enjoying just a little bit of relaxation, which would explain the lack of blogging.  A couple of weeks ago one of my favorite families welcomed a new member, and she is just the cutest (as expected). Maeve put her feelings about her new baby sister into words perfectly…”she is the turkey, and I’m the cheese!”. Maeve is totally smitten with her little sister.  I am so excited for them, and I hope I get to photograph her a million times as she grows.

When I was fourteen my parents bought me my first “real” camera after years of playing with well…any other camera I could find. It was an old Pentax K1000. It was from the 80′s with the real metal body, fully manual, and I LOVED it. I learned everything I know about photography using it. Last month I decided to pull it off of its resting place as a mantle decoration, replace the one tiny little battery, buy some film and see if I still knew what I was doing. I missed the feeling of not knowing if you got the photo. I wondered if I actually knew how to do it without looking at a screen (or load film). I missed waiting to see the photos. The only thing missing from this little project was the wonderful stink of the darkroom chemicals on my fingers! So, here are a few of my favorites from the first roll.

It seems like yesterday I was photographing their engagement session and telling the story of my Facebook creeper status.  Looking back through that post I realized that what I said was even more true Saturday as they tied the knot…”They are as comfortable as a couple that has been married for 50 years, and as fresh and excited as if they had just started dating”.  There is something so special about photographing the wedding of high school sweethearts. Like they have been waiting for these moments FOREVER.  Dominique and Carmen, we are so happy to have you as not only clients, but friends. Thank you both so much for being the FIRST engagement session I ever photographed YEARS ago and for choosing us to capture your wedding day. Thank you to both families for being so amazing.  You guys are all awesome.  xo

The restaurant where they met and got engaged.

Dominique’s younger sister (her maid of honor) wins the sweetest MOH speech of 2011.

I hope you guys will be as happy as Dominique’s parents are…so cute!  And let me tell you, her mom has MOVES.

While everyone danced and partied, we popped outside for a few more shots at sunset.

Thank you guys again!  We know you will have a long happy life together.  xo
