adventures in new york city. family session.

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

As you may have gathered by now if you read my blog often, I love New York City. I love everything about it. I travel there at least a couple of times a year. This time I was lucky enough to meet on of my FAVORITE families in the city for a lifestyle session as we ventured from the bright lights of Time Square, to High Line Park and the Meatpacking District. I have been dying to do a session like this, and Michelle, Andrew, Luka, and Griffin were the perfect subjects. They are basically everything I hope my future family will be.

Thank you guys so much for hanging out with me, and a big thank you to my travel buddy Sam for all of your help! If YOU are interested in having your photos taken in the big city or beyond, shoot me an email at caitlin@caitlintphotography.com.

For the past few weeks we have been wedding free, and enjoying just a little bit of relaxation, which would explain the lack of blogging.  A couple of weeks ago one of my favorite families welcomed a new member, and she is just the cutest (as expected). Maeve put her feelings about her new baby sister into words perfectly…”she is the turkey, and I’m the cheese!”. Maeve is totally smitten with her little sister.  I am so excited for them, and I hope I get to photograph her a million times as she grows.

the runge family . real life .

Every family I photograph is different. Different ages. Different dynamics. Different people. Each family teaches me something different about my job, and life in general. This family happens to have moved from Switzerland to Pittsburgh in March. They taught me that love is the same in every language. This type of “lifestyle” session is what makes me tick. The kind of session that is less portrait, and more documentary. This kind of family reminds me of my childhood. Less plastic, more imagination. They have a bounce room for the kids, filled with mattresses and pillows. I literally dreamed of a room like that for years. They were real, and honest in front of the camera and I think it was a little bit magical. I loved it so much that this post is really photo heavy…see for yourself…
